Since 2003, NIH awards with publications coauthored with investigators from foreign institutions have required prior approval.  As a reminder, “Foreign components, as defined in the NIH Grants Policy Statement, are not allowed” on an COBRE Center award.

An author attribution to a foreign performance site in a manuscript constitutes a foreign component per the NIH GPS and is not allowed. You may acknowledge intellectual contributions in the appropriate section on a manuscript, but authorship will be construed as foreign involvement. Core users from foreign countries may acknowledge this COBRE Center but not cite the grant award nor include core staff as authors.
